Are we over doing our Yoga?

Teija and Leo, Warrior 3 demostration. photo by : Kaisa Kärkäinen
Are we over doing Yoga and all the Asanas? So many details to think about that sometimes it even interferes in our attention and intension and we loose the ground, our foundation.
I was last weekend in Helsinki on a workshop in Urban Mandala and met a wonderful and very different teacher that ever met before. The whole weekend we studied our relationship towards the ground under our feet, hands, body….

We often think we have the ground there but are we really receiving all the information from it? Are you just feeling the ground without really feeling it?

We tested this by standing on the plain ground, standing on sticks and golf balls just to get all the receptors awaken to receive the ground with everything it has to offer. First feeling the light touch on our skin of the feet, then little more pressure to feel it in the flesh and finally feeling it all the way to our bones from our feet to the spine.

This teacher we had is Leonidas Peppas (Embodied Anatomy) and he said something that really wakened me up. ”In Yoga we tended to do the asanas when the asanas just should happen…” All the details and information about how to do a asana can end up us loosing the touch to the ground and we loose balance or start to feel pressure in our spine and joints. But when we really have a relationship with the ground and also fiend the support from space around us and dare to widen our optics, embracing it all some interesting things start to happen. Or let me try to put it this way; feeling the ground under your feet in detail and really feel the power from that connection giving you solid ground. And feeling the air or space oboe you lifting you from the grown up. Feel the long and relaxed spine and feel that the backside of your pelvis is relaxing. Feel the sensation of your tail bone relaxing and reaching down. Feeling and being curios about the ground under your feet and making a relationship with it, and feel the head lifting. Or as talked, ” Oh, what’s that under my feet? How does it feel? Oh, see! Where is my head going?…”  When you find that feeling, try to feel it even in Virabhadrasana A and Adho Mukha Svanasana and any asana you do. In Adho Mukha Svanasana you have 2 pair of feet to find the ground to and two ”heads” reaching into space, your stiffness and your head 😉

Maybe you feel it in the way you walk or running? Or how your balances are beyond struggle? You feel light and strong to the ground at the same time.

This is not just about yoga practice but even everyday life. We over focus on details and on the details of those details and we loose the ground when we try to force us selves forward, instead of letting us move through the space with out pushing and striving. The forcing will just make us to get tense, loose our balance and make us frustrated.

It’s all about our relationship the world outside of us selves. Opening up, receiving, embracing and letting the life  happen. As we can feel hopefully the asanas to happen to.

Here is my little vlog about the weekend incase you want to watch it.

Now I just feel for to take my mat and see if some yoga happens 😉

Thank you for being here <3

Importance of being adaptable as Yoga teacher

Many time we teachers before workshops or classes tenden to make strickt plans how the class is built and how it is going to be.

Sometimes we even get disappointed or mad towards us selves if the plans don’t go through.

When I started to teach Yoga I had so clear visions about the class all the way from beginning to it’s end and I remember how devastating it was when the plans did not go together with the reality. I felt so little and sad about the fact that I could not deliver a ”perfect” class to my students. It was heart breaking. I’m all the way into the bone marrow one who wants to serve and hate making others disappointed. I was terrified to loose my tone in shanting or say something totally wicked.

But what surprised me was that many times when I lost my plans during the classes, and when the class ended people started to come to me to thank me for a really great class. I started to soften. I started to loosen up and were not that afraid of making ”mistakes”.

Today we have had Mind Day on one of the places there I teach yoga. I’m used to hold my classes alone and used to compromise with just my self and the yogis on their mats, so today was a totally new experience. Today I teached  in pair with a fellow teacher.

We had not had time to do the test classes together to do a test drive before this day because sometimes Life happens and time runs out.

Hahaha… I can tell you, this day didn’t go at all as planned BUT we adjusted so smoothly on the situation and we made it to ROCK any ways! And it was a great deal of fun!!

We had planed a technique class and after a class based on these asanas but as the OMies wanted to continue with the techniques to find the asanas for each one of the students, based on their own physical abilities. So we decided to do double asana technique class. And I have to say that I’m a total technique nerd!! So I did not mind at all. It was so beautiful to feel the energy of these lovely people studying the asanas and to find their way of the movement and finding the ground, strength, relaxation and connection to the breath. I’m so tired but happy right now. But there is still one class to teach today… Sunday Funday 😉

And what comes to the making mistakes… I did do some today. Maybe I was the only one noticing, maybe not. But it’s not a big deal 🙂

Sometimes I do give quite funny instructions in my class and I offer the class a really good laughter. Or while doing balances ; hand balances or headstands, giving instructions, forgetting to concentrate on the asana and loosing the balance and ending up in face plant or falling down…. Not a big deal. I’m used to be the clown of the group through whole my life and it’s my way to shake of things like that. This has actually even turned to my benefits.

Like one of my students said so nicely.

”I love your classes because you are human in first place instead of a Teacher, which feels so relaxing.”

But I think it’s all about being humble. I don’t know everything. I’m on the journey too, just like everyone else.

We are all humans. No one is better than the other. Teacher or student. And by remembering this makes the practice easier for all the practisers in the shala. Many times there is this fear of not being good/ flexible enough to practice on classes on the shala that holds us back from taking the next step in our yogic journey. As we put aside the feeling of ”not being worthy” the magic happens and the great journey can begin. This comes even for teachers…. We are all different and there will always be students who are guided to you for a reason. Be grateful, be joyful and Shine your light.

I feel like I kind of ended up on side ways now but what I want to say is;

Life is on constant movement. You never know what you will meet in your class. Feel out the energies and don’t force a surtent class to happen as planned if the energies don’t support it. Be adaptable to form the class to what your students needs not what you want to teach or show. Be humble and serve as a teacher.

Journey to Padmasana – The Full Lotus Pose

Do you have struggle to get into a full Lotus pose? Your knee hurts and your ankles are killing you??

I know how it feels and this has taken me 2,5 years to come here and I still manage to stay only a really short time. But as with every pose, it takes practice and you need to feel the asana in your body. if you are not feeling your body, if you are not being present in your own body the development will maybe ever happen. When you learn to listen and find the connection between the body and the mind and you learn to be present in each moment in the asanas. You will find the way for the body to move in the positions with out resistance.

I’m still searching my way to find my free connection to my hips. I know it will happen. It is a journey I need to do before getting there. The same journey learns me to be patient. That personality trait has never been the strongest of my traits. So I made this video for you, because this is how my journey has developed from Sukhasana to Padmasana, even if it just is for a moment 🙂

Hope it inspires You,

Enjoy!

Lovely, awful hip openers. The Double Pigeon Pose and the Modification.

Hips! Those darn hips! Okay, so this is definitely my achilles heal. And in todays post I’ll show you Double Pigeon Pose and the Modification to it. I have quite divided relationship to these Lovely, awful hip openers. My hips are just made of stone and steel and I work on them and then I work some more on them.

And the progress seems to be so slow. And I know why…. Do you?? Because I have been cutting down in hip openers because I did not do as I have learned. Ego…. I have forced my hip openers too hard and ended up to injure my knee even more.

So, no matter what position you struggle with, DO NOT FORCE IT! It will come when You are ready. If it ever does happen. Either way feel that it is okay. Accept the space you are in right now. Don’t do what I did… We should always remember that we always are right where we should be.

There are though some facts that affect how deep you get into hip opening poses.

  • The tightness of the soft tissues like muscles, fascias and ligaments

  • Bone structures

  • Deepness of the joints

The muscular and fascia tightness is possible and good to work with but we have to stay aware of when the stiffness is not in these tissues. Ligaments should not get stretched and by pressing into poses, that are because of your bone structures not made for you, is nothing to force into.

Anatomy Lesson

IMG_9792We all know the general area of our body we have in mind when we talk about our “hips”. Here is some actually information of ”the Hip”. To be specific, we can say that the actual hip joint is located where your femur (thighbone) meets your pelvis (hip bone). For all the anatomy nerds here, let’s be technical and define the hip joint as the place where the head of the femur (the ball-like prominence at the top end of the bone) articulates with the acetabulum, a concave hemispherical socket located on the side of the pelvis.

The hip is a joint, which means that it’s a moveable part of your body.  Motion at the hip takes place when the femur and pelvis move in relation to each other.  There are lots of movements available at the hip joint, including hip extension (moving the thigh behind you, as in Dhanurasana), hip flexion (forward bend – uttanasana), hip abduction (moving your thigh out to the side, like your back leg in Warrior B), hip adduction (moving the thigh toward your midline – think Eagle Pose), and internal (Shoe lace pose) and external (Lotus ) rotation.  Ideally all of these motions would be fluid and easy for you all of the time, but all too often, our hip joint movement is restricted in one or more planes (or all of them), resulting in hips we experience as “tight”.

What Does It Mean to Have Tight Hips?

Even though some teachers and even therapists says that the hips movements are are not because of stiff joints but because of the tight soft tissues as muscles and fascias, the truth is that your joint itself is sometimes really the issue. Because every human being is unique in the bone structures and the hip joint is placed in different directions and ankled very different. Some have hip joints that is not to much to the front of the Pelvis and the articularis / joint is shallow, which makes most of the poses for hips easy to get into when the muscles softens up. If the joint is too much to the front and the joint is deep the bone structures from femur and pelvis will collard and it’s never good to try push beyond this point. The deepness of the joint as well as the length of the femoral neck is very different from person to person and it makes the movement of the hip unique for each and one of us. I have worked almost 10 as a Sport therapist and seen lots of these issues. But I got even better eye opener when I study to Yoga Teacher and one of our Teachers, Joe Barnett (Yin Yoga teacher) went really deep into the bone structures when he was teaching us the understanding of teaching and guiding students into poses. He learned us to understand and respect our own bodies as well others.

And sometimes actually the muscles and fascia that cross your joint that restrict your movement. And how do these tissues become tight? Your body adapts to what you do most frequently. And the one body position that we as a culture tend to assume most frequently is sitting with our hips and knees flexed at 90 degrees. Even if you don’t think you sit a lot, or if you have a job which requires you to stand, you’re probably forgetting all the other time you do spend sitting because it’s so ingrained in your daily lifestyle that you almost don’t even realize it. Fortunately many of the office working places here in Finland are having now a days adjustable tables so you can vary between sitting and standing during the working day.

The difference of the pain when it is bone structural limitation or soft tissue tightness is not always easy to tell, but if you feel sharp pain and / or hard resistance  and if there is softer resistance and milder pain or more as uncomfortableness in a position is an indication of muscular / fascial tightness.

In a nutshell, our over-use of the sitting posture shortens the muscles that cross the front of our hips (hip flexors) and the muscles that line the back our thighs (hamstrings), as well as effectively inactivates our otherwise so powerful glutes, and just turns our whole hip area out of balance. So the tight and unhappy hips drive us to our yoga mats to get some relief. Just remember, that the balance is what we strive for, strengthens and releases tension and respects our body, as it is made.

Here I have a video for the SAFE practice of Double Pigeon. Both; guidance to full pose and to a modification for all the tight hips out there in the world.

Enjoy

How to make your living as a Yoga teacher?

You may know this pain point too well. You have found a career that you feel really passionated about, but that is hard to make living from. But even though many of us yoga teachers are struggling with this issue, it doesn’t really have to be this way. And the way out of that is not really that complicated. It’s all about to find the right places, mentors and tools.

For me the realizing that the amount of hours I would have to do each week to make a living for my family with 5 persons (+1 dog and 4 cats) would before or later start to kill the passion from my Yoga teaching and my own practice. I want to do it WITH PASSION and because of the passion, not because of the money. But we all need food on the table right?…

Now keep on reading because I’m about to share with you how I make this almost impossible equation possible.

Yes, I know…. you are asking your self ”why in earth would she do that?”. Let me say it this way; What is the sound of one hand clapping??… Yeah, nothing. If I’m here to share passion for yoga for everyone, I can as well get some help with that spreading through all the other yoga teachers as well. We are all on the same path, right? It’s not a competition, it’s a calling. And even, when we are working as Yoga teachers, we all attract different kinds of people.

One year ago, I was getting really overwhelmed trying to come up with a plan how to make this work. I met a wonderful person through Instagram who became a good friend with. She helped me to brain storm and introduced me to some really awesome people who could help me to say exactly what to do, so I could have my dream for my passion and freedom with out economic stress.

Together we have made Mastermind workshops and I learned on the way all the steps what I needed to do to keep my freedom minimizing the working hours and giving me the chance to keep on being passionated and event take care of my own practice. We created a Tribe as we call our Family of Freedom Preneurs.

So basically what I do;

  • blog, being visible on Instagram and Facebook
  • emailing my lists
  • sell video series (yoga sessions)
  • sell private coaching online (yoga and marketing)

These activities has elevated my incomes but also the invitations to have my own retreats and workshops as a co-host. And when I have my own event they usually are full booked. In May me and my little private group are flying to Torrevieja, Spain to have a 1 week retreat.

I want You to have the same possibilities to success with your own Brand. We have made the whole process of to be a successful entrepreneur to a step by step ”Sharing the Love” training library the you can find ALL the sources you need, but most important having these most pure-hearted people standing there and ready to serve you when you need. It’s unbelievable.

And if You want to check it out if it interests you CLICK HERE to get on the Freedom Preneur Movement .

In Freedom-Preneur Movement you can also make an extra income when someone joins under your link. I know the price is going to go up in the beginning of April, but the once you join now keeps their discounts as long as they want to be part of the Tribe.

Another source that I also find really awesome with support, trainings and webinars is Yoga Alliance. But if You want to get access to all the webinars you have to pay the yearly fee as well. I would also say that these both places are totally worth it and really low in cost if you think how much it costs to get an education on webinars or workshops by yourself, not even talking about how much it should cost if you have a paid service to do your advertising for your business.

I know that i don’t want to be with out my students, so I teach the classes I teach but the money issue should never be the main reason to your hours. Before all this started to elevate I had already taught around 200 hours in just 9 months. As a cancer surviver it is way to much for me so I needed this change.

Here above I have some of the top moments of my journey of Teaching yoga.

I really hope this is for some help for you and will get your biz rocking.

Namaste,

About Being vulnerable in a role of an Yoga teacher.

Yesterday We had This awesome gathering with my fellow Yoga Teachers in our shala. We drank tee, laughed and danced whole evening and reconnected us selves with every part of our body. I can’t remember when I’ve felt so alive in every single cell in my body. It was a really needed evening with these Lovely ladies.

To be honest, the last few weeks have been tough emotionaly and All these discussions and decisions with myself have been draining me and I sure needed to dance it of. Take a brake.

But what definitely have been giving me strength to stay focused during this period is that I feel so secure in my space as a teacher. I know that I don’t need to fake anything or pretend to be perfect in any way. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean that I tell about all my ups and downs for my students, but I can for exemple just start with words….

”Well, We live interesting days when sometimes nothing really goes as planned, and I’m sure everyone has these days. I’m so Honored and Glad to find my Self here with You All today to work on our mats to find our inner peace and trust for What’s coming…”

I see it as showing your authentic You as a teacher to your students, You encourage them to be authentic too. I believe that if we are trying to be something You are not, You soon end up losing your students because they Will feel if You are holding a false image.

I know it is a really thin line to show your vulnerability and to show too much, but I also know that certain type of people are drown to You what ever you are showing out to The world. Your students Will always respect You as long as You are staying true.

I see also that even though I have had lots of pain and tears, it gives me the deeper understanding for others situations and I see them as a blessing. They give me the tools to guide and help these in pain to find the way easier out. Both in self-development as in Yoga asana practice.

We talked about all this yesterday and I must say that I feel so blessed to have these colleagues to brainstorm and change experiences with. It’s a safetynet to fall Back on when You need  the support. Either if You are a teacher or a student yourself I think that the importancy to have a mentor is crucial.

One of the people that I see as my Yoga mentor is Petri Räisänen and his wife Wambui. They are really down to Earth type of Yogis and I love their way to be so uncomplicated. I really recommend their workshops and retreats to Everyone. Even though I teach Hatha and soon Yin and he Petri and Wambui teaches Ashtanga I really love learning From them. Petri is amazing on hands-on guiding and last time I were on their retreat I found such a new levels to get in to positions.

I think that my way of being true in my self even when I teach is lots of Thanks to them. You can feel what You feel, be vulnerable, without making a huge number of it.

I would love to hear your thoughts about this is, if You are teacher or a student.

Hope, my lovelies, you’ll have a really beautiful Easter.

3 most amazing benefits of Yoga for Cancer patients

Today I wanted to share today is the 3 most magnificent benefits of yoga when your body is sick in cancer. Or even other illnesses but this journey with Cancer is what I know from my own experiences and I really hope to spread the knowledge about it.

In 2012 i got diagnose of Hodgkins Lymphoma state 4BX, which means that cancer has spread in both sides of diaphragm, 4 or more main organs, the B stand for the form of the cancer cell that in my case was bulk and the X was terminal as in the end of that race. In that time when I got the diagnose I was so tired I barely stayed awake enough to go to restroom, but some how I managed to pull my self together and start consciously breathing and talking and listening to my body. Soon I managed even to start moving a bit. some asanas every now and then. There were very few positions I managed to do at all because of my huge spleen that was full of cancer and swollen, as well as my diaphragm and my right lung. But I did what my body asked for. I was started to be aware of my body and breath 24/7. Just did my asanas, breathing and doing Yoga Nidra as I got the orders from my dear body.

This next information will blow your mind!! So keep on reading after you watched the slide show. With this slide I want to show you where I come from and why I’m so passionated about this.

After I started to do all these practice I knowledge that I started be more and more precent, I did not have as much sleeping difficulties, I was calm and felt the energy flowing and healing within me.

When I got my first pneumonia during my chemo I ended up in Hospital emergency and when they tok my oxygen saturations they had to change the machine because they thought it was broken. It showed that my oxygen levels were up 98% with tumors in my lung and a pneumonia! The other machine showed the same. The Doctors and Nurses could not believe their eyes. And my blood works showed that my hemoglobin was higher than most healthy people have with is amazing when you think that I did have a blood cancer form. My pulse was slow and study and my blood pressure just perfect.

During this pneumonia I had my neared experience 2 weeks later that turned my healing process to something that no one expected, but that is a whole another story. (coming up in my book)

When I was again well enough to be at home I started soon to notice that I did not want to have the heavy pain killers anymore. I had been on morphine for quite a high dose and longer time and I wanted it out of my system because I felt it disturbing me in many levels. My spleen hunted a lot but as I kept on breathing and doing my gentle asana I noticed that every time I started to breath more consciously the pain disappeared and my mind became still. I did this every day. Many times several times each day or overtime I felt pain somewhere, I started to breath slowly in and out . Inhale – let, Exhale -go… Let go…. That was one of my mantras. I also had to go through whole my life, all my traumas and just forgive everything and everybody, even my self.

Each check up I did at the Oncologist they were surprised over that I had survived the first month and that I was actually making progress. My spleen had started to shrink and was mostly pain free. Even if the process to get cancer free tok almost 2 years, I did it. Little by little. Many times under the asana practice I did most of the healing in my soul level. I believe that when we get stuck in too much trauma that we don’t work our way through it will in some point manifest as a illness of some sort.

Cancer has it’s roots in deep wounds, being stuck in sadness, hidden secret or grief that troubles your soul or being stuck in anger. It all had to go. And Yoga definitely gave me the tools to handle it all.

So here is the 3 most amazing benefits of Yoga;

  1. Breathing consciously (Pranayama) highers your oxygen levels and benefits your cellular healing process and calms your mind.

  2. Asana practice and breathing relieves pain, releases stress and anxiety.

  3. It helps you to cleans your body from toxins and mobilize your body, less pain in your spine and joints.

So this is something that I think is really important to spread out. For me it feels like it saved my life. It really did. That has also inspired me to keep on studying so next November I’m traveling to Goa to study Yoga Therapy and maybe I can help some more people.

And what comes to being old or sick so you can’t exercise, Yoga is even for you. No matter how bad in shape you are, there is always a level for you. Conscious breathing is where the journey begins.

If you feel difficult to keep in touch with the breath, start counting it. 1 – inhale, 2 – exhale and keep on counting 1, 2. even when your thoughts start to slip away, go back to breathing slowly in and out, 1,2. And there you are, already doing yoga in one of the many levels.

I have worked now as a yoga teacher about a year and reached around 300-350 hours and I just love it. My students are everything between 15 to 94. Yes, you read right 94… I just recently started to teach Chair Yoga  on a Nursing Home and I have to say that the once who are there are amazing and love the laughter in the room when we do our practice. Just remember Yoga has no labels. It’s for everyone no matter of race, size, health or sick, old or young. And What I know for sure is that Yoga is just perfect way to support you during and after Cancer treatments.

Hope this inspires and helps someone who needs this little push. If you have any thoughts about this I’m glad to chat chat with you.

Serving the world or emptying your own cup?

Are You feeling All these strange things and feelings happening to You ?

Having The feeling that You can’t control these things and You desperately seek ways to numb down these inner voices and feelings? Are you constantly serving and just emptying your own cup?… These feeling may have nothing to do with you. Maybe you just are too open to let others energies confuse your own balance.

I know how it feels. Let me tell you something from my life as it used to be. Long way before I had my near dead experience and before I started to study Yoga for real.

Many times I felt that I was all the time so full of these outer vibes and impressions that I got totally lack of energy. Sometimes I felt that I was going nuts. Somehow I know that I have always been open to different energies around us and felt everything, each person who were near by me. I felt their energies and I didn’t know how to control it at all and still I some times felt the urge to help by touching or being near. I felt almost never in balance, only when I was totally by my self in middle of the nature. But even there I could be drawn to places with confusing energies that I could not understand, like someone wanted to talk to me. In some point I was so darn tired of never being in my own energies so I started to relax through booz, sleep, heavy training, working a lot with saving and taking care of others, I even tried antidepressive medications to get away. I can tell it didn’t work that well.

For long I was so lost but finally found home within…

FullSizeRender 63Lately I have reflected a lot about my senses.
I have always experienced that my senses are almost supernatural.

It’s a gift but sometimes almost as a curse.

I have From that I was little communicated with animals of any kind; helping birds, hedgehogs and even mice and frogs ( my mother sometimes were going nuts over my mission to help All these beings and dragging them to our house).

I have since little could tell that someone is sick just By their scent. I often could tell my little brother was getting sick before anyone else noticed anything.

I can feel at a quite long range someone is having Bad feelings or intuitions or is in really dark place, because The vibrations hit me with open Hand right over my face.
I used to take it personally, I took these feelings to my be my own without even noticing this. It still happens sometimes but I’m fast noticing if it is Me or Someone else causing the feelings.

Now a days I do a lot guided meditations after my classes. Sometimes I just talk it through but sometimes I give a light touch or massage while they lay in Shavasana. I have almost stopped making my guided meditation texts ”ready to go”, I just pick the vibes during the class that gives the right words. There is always a guideline hanging in the air and someone needing the right words to release and guide them from their ”pain”… And mostly they serve the whole class anyway.

My whole life friends and Family members have felt urge to be near to me when they felt pain, tension or lack of energy just for to get my hands on them… And I did it just By intuation. I felt the need and I served. Then I did not know either how to separate my own energetic field from others and I emptied my self quite a lot.

For long Time I thought It was something seriously wrong with me. I really started to Believe I was going nuts!!

This is how I have lived my whole Life.

Many years of trying to balance This All, I did hit The rock bottom.
I was a Massage Therapist working long days, surprise…. Healing All day long. Kind of knowing that I was slowly killing my Self By draining All Life energy out of me on others.

While I was sick in Cancer I had to face everything. I had to stop and really start to listen to my body. I was terminal so I know I was dying and The Life and Time was running through my fingers.

I started to speak with my cells. I spoke kindly. I engouraged them to get back to Work. I promised to take care of my part and support them any way I can.

And surprisenly I started to heal. After 1,5 years I was Cancer Free. I did take The traditional treatments even if I combined it with alternative treatments, even without my Dr:s approval. But I did what my body told me to do. And I chose to listen more to my body…

Honestly, noone believed that I would survive This Cancer at All. I got more or less a month to live.  And Now I have 23 months Cancer Free.

What comes to my senses, they are even stronger…

I am still learning to master The balance and I’m learning All The Time something new.

I choose wisely where and when I give “my touch” , I have learned to close The Bad vibes outside of myself. I have learned how to protect my own space now.

I’ve learned to listen more to my cells and give my self what The body needs.
With practicing Yoga it can be tricky and I have to really listen when it is my cells and mind speaking and when it is my ego trying to master The body or just me trying to quiet the voices within.

My sense of smell is even more sensitive now a days and I try to find a way to use It wisely. How do You bring a message to someone that “You should really seek a doctor…”?
For long I have felt This Like heavy burden but I start to realize that even If I can help just one person with it it’s all good.

If You regonize your self By This or You know someone else who is feeling disconnected within. Shattered and can’t place your finger on The pain point.

Connect with me !! Together We can find a way to find The Strength and Balance ♥️

Love and appreciate your special gifts. Thay are not there By accident,
You have a purpose!!

Love and Light!

Yes! I just love Warriors <3

Have you ever had one of those days when You just would like to stay in bed and pretend that you don’t even exist? Feeling the struggle getting stuck in your throat but you can’t scream? How to overcome these negative thoughts and feelings??
Honestly, I have had one of those days today. For a moment I frizzed and felt after if I should just call it a day and hide at home instead of do those things I had planed to todays evening. But just for a moment. I had to snap out of it…
It is so easy to let your mind get gripped of panic, frustration and disappointments and get stuck in those moments and feelings. But the real question is, is it serving you some how? And don’t get me wrong. It is totally human to have bad days and it is okay to brake down for a moment. But you will do your self a huge favor if you after you have noticed the feeling, accept it and then let go of it. And it is really important that you accept that feeling  and do not try to hide it away. Every feeling is okay to feel. But there is a difference to reflect and accept feelings and thoughts and to get stuck in to those.
Like I told, I almost got stuck today. I’m that kind of person who often are stuck in a feeling for a very short time and then I’m over it and all positive again. My feeling that I’ve got little stuck in started yesterday. I got some little worrying news. Don’t know yet any facts on this problem but just because I saw my husband breakdown in to tears got me totally out of my mind setting and I got stuck in the feeling of disappointment.
Disappointment towards that there is a change that the cancer might be back. And that still is just MIGHT. So today I was really tired and had lack of joy . I had booked a dinner date with a new friend that i had ever seen before, but she is a New exam Yoga teacher and I felt that she is someone I would really like to know. But I felt the lust of hide at home quite big. Nighter did I want to go and teach Pranayama today… I felt so lack of everything. And then I had wonderful talk with one of my dear wise friends and she advised me to listen to do what I needed. If it is to stay at home, then I should do it… I had to just stay in that feeling for little more.
Then I got this voice in me again. “Okay, done with feeling sorry for your self yet? Are going to continue and feel even worse or do something about it??”…
OH THAT VOICE!!!
Sometimes it really is annoying when it hits me in the head with a hammer. Okay, so quick check up…
For the first, I do not have any facts yet. So why get all messed up!?
For the second, When has a meeting with a interesting wonderful person got you feeling worse??
Or when has teaching Yoga or Pranayama made you feel worse??
The answers to these three questions are no, no, and no – EVER!
So I did what I had planed. I met this awesome person who I believe to be a new good friend, we had a really good laughter for the first because we had managed to pick all the same colors on our clothes; scarfs, jackets, tops, pants… That’s kind of funny but doesn’t stop there. After we had enjoyed a good vegetarian dinner we went to the Yoga studio there I teach and she would be with me doing the pranayama practice too and as we took our calendars out of our bags we saw that our calendars both were pink….And we both had the same color of socks. You can only imagine how we laughed! The Pranayama turned also to be really good as always. And I just love these classes and all the Yogis and Yoginis participating. The space in these classes is unbelievable.

But friend, my point of this post is basically that most of the times what is standing in your way of to moving forward is you and only You.
It is okay to be vournable. It is okay to be angry or sad or disappointed but just don’t let it own you and color you with its darkness.
Accept and embrace the feelings and then kiss them good bye.
And You are already on your way to a next wonderful moment.
Love and Light!!
Thank You for this very lovely day  and thank you for the reminder <3

What is that chick / dude trying to do? What a show of! How often Are you noticing how someones in the yoga class are watching around to the neighbor mat and fellow yogis? Rolling their eyes. Or just pushing them selves in way too deep pose just for to be a better yogi in asanas than that neighbor mat person who is just such a “wanna Be” Kino McGregory…. Gah! Give me a brake!! You are thinking!…

But hey hey HEEEYYY! Wait a minute… If you just noticed someone eye balling around in the shala, it only means that you should also be giving more attention on your own practice. Turn back in your own breathing, your own intension. Turn back your attention to your  own body and the reflections of how the breathing, moving on your mat it feels.

I know it isn’t always so easy. And definitely at the begin of your yoga journey it’s really tough to let go of your ego and the desire to be that awesome flexy thing  making ten knots of them selves and still having a fabulous smile on their face. I know this because I’ve been there. Not in yoga but in martial arts and it just leads to you hurting your self . Not only your ego but also physically. And let me tell you, it’s just not worth it.

How You look in the asanas is a not the important thing. How you feel in while you are breathing and moving and grounding on your mat is the true journey. The Journey to find out WHO you are. Finding out your true seer. Cleaning your views from the layers of curtains that hides your true self behind it all. It is not always a pleasant journey but in the end the feeling of Space of harmony around you and the feeling of Peace inside of you, will pay of the growing pain in the end. At first you may think the yoga is you and your mat but sooner or later you will notice that the Yoga practice is much more than the asanas. It is the way you live and love your life and every aspect of  it. And when your practice feels uncomfortable or you find out new sides about you that you didn’t know where there and maybe these new sides even scare you or makes you feel less, remember this; You can always decide how to react and act on any kind of information or thoughts. I know this so well and is the main reason for me starting teaching and inspiring others to do yoga. I’m maybe one of the stiffest yogis on biz, but I have found my way of movement as everyone else will find their own. Cancer and my old way of living did leave scares and marks on my body and I just have to accept it forgive myself doing myself harm that way and let it rest. I have learned my lessons the hard way. Here is couple of experiences from life….

Lets say You have invested time and maybe even founds on new business but realize that it was for you. Here you can get stuck in a negative, loosing founds and time and disappointment and accuse others of your failing OR You can concentrate to see the positive sides, what have you learned on the way and maybe you have made even some really good friends on that journey. For me the lost founds and time I see as investment. I found some amazing souls to connect with and I learned how to brand my self, write books (heads up, my autobiography coming during this year 2016), I learned A LOT techy stuff like running successfully Instagram accounts, make ads and marketing on FB and sooooo much more. If you have questions or need advice about these things just let me know.  I do not know everything, but I sure know quite a lot 😉 Every biz needs the social medias now a days, so if you don’t have IG and Fb fan page ready to roll, do it. For me the positive side is that i don’t need to pay anyone to run my ads and social medias. I realized that I burn more for to help others with health and Yoga than that I’m burning to make bugs on online marketing. I love people and I love helping. It gives so much more joy!!                              Later this year I’m coming up also with my own online yoga site for my followers and students. I’m starting to study Yoga Theraphy soon and I look forward to be able to help others with their health even more. I’m excited over it and of corse the fact that the school is in Goa. I will be needing voluntary patients too so let me know if you are interested <3

Or let me also give another example…. for me my Cancer was even though it was 2 years of just surviving the day with pain, nausea and tons of medicines a blessing. I could easily have got stuck on feeling sorry for myself  and choose the victimhood but instead I learned to see the beauty in each moment and I learned to be grateful for the smallest things, like  the beauty of a snowflake or a little flower braking through the dirt. I started also to sink more into conscious being and living. I did several times each day Pranayama exercises and a couple of asanas of Yin every now and then. I was way too week to do Hatha or Asthanga practice so i just did what my body wanted to do. No forcing or violence – Ahimsa. You can read more about journey on my first post on this blog or get my free ebook Here.

The same way you think when you develop in your own yoga practice. You may have to start in the most basic levels and still find it hard but the acceptance of your own being and allowing the progress take it’s time. Embrace the moment and stop forcing. You will have resistance on that path every now and then but by landing on it and letting it take it’s time you will learn so much about your self. How even in the moment of resistance and discomfort you can find peace in your mind. You will every now and then feel desperation and agony of being stuck and not making as fast progress you want but see how far you have come!! If you are beginner, see you are doing a great job coming on your mat time after time. Just breath through it. Don’t ever compare where you are with someone else. What comes naturally for someone else, is pain for you but remember there is always a pain point even for that other person in a different asana or movement or just in the mind, You just never know. I sometimes suggest my students to close their eyes and just sink in their own experience to eliminate the possibility to COMPARING.

Couple of my favorite quotes about this is;

Yoga is not about self-improvement, it’s about self-acceptance. -Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa

Yoga is not about touching your toes. It’s about unlocking your ides about what you want, where you think you can go, and how you will achieve you get there. -Cyndi Lee

No mud, No Lotus. -Gandhi

So soften in your self on your mat next time. Do not care what happens on the mat right next to you. That is someone else’s journey happening there and you should be doing your own. And as you shouldn’t be judging someone else’s practice, don’t judge your own nighter. You are in the right place, in just a right time. Enjoy every moment of it. You are Amazing – Feel it.

Namaste – Love and Light
